The International Association of Laryngectomees (IAL), International Association of Laryngectomees - Federation of European Laryngectomees and the Cyberbiomed Company with Limited Liability - The Prosthesis Center for Speech and Hearing is inviting you to the International Training Workshops in:
- Comprehensive Rehabilitation of patients after total or partial laryngectomy utilizing most modern equipment and technology.
The first and second level of these workshops will be in Poland from 16th to 18th of October 2009 and will conclude with an examination qualifying for the third level.
15th of October 2009 - Scientific introductory conference during which you give presentations and compare your experience, views and publications.
Attendance during the Conference is not mandatory.

The third level workshops will be offered in the USA during the IAL Annual Conference and Voice Institute in 2010. We will inform you about exact dates and details of the training during your workshops in Poland. The series of lectures was designed based on the rehabilitation experience of the IAL around the world and consists of:
Anatomy and physiology of patients after laryngectomy
Rehabilitation fundamentals of total laryngectomy patients
Psychological basics in working with the patient
Selection of rehabilitation method based on medical history and esophagus sphincter pressure measurements
Audio prosthesis for the laryngectomees
Computerized pressure measurement of the esophagus sphincter gaping, recording analysis and further diagnostics
Auxiliary methods and equipment for rehabilitation
Rehabilitation of the substitute self-created voice (esophageal and throat speech)
Technical means to provide prosthesis (electronic artificial larynx, air prosthesis, voice implants, generator of oral prosthesis, amplifiers)
Auxiliary equipment in rehabilitation
Discussion and exchange of experiences
After passing the examination you will receive training completion certificate. In December of 2009 we will mail you official invitation from the USA to attend the Annual Meeting/Voice Institute. Based on this invitation you can apply for a B-1 visa at the American Embassy or Consulate to attend the training.
The visa procedures depend on your citizenship.
The lectures will be in English, German, Russian and Polish.
Unfortunately, the course attendance capacity is limited and you will be accepted on a "first come first serve" basis.
Training will be in the DeSilva-Airport Hotel in Pyrzowice, about 2 km from the Katowice International Airport.
Professional requirements:
Completion of speech therapy studies or last year of study program (in that case the attendee must be scheduled to complete the studies by June 2010.
Training Program Expenses (in zl):
Training 88,00 ~~ about 120 EURO
Housing: Double room 80,00/day ~~ about 20EURO
Single room 250,00/day ~~ about 60 EURO
Meals:
Breakfast about 4 EURO
Lunch about 5 EURO
Dinner about 6 EURO
Transportation:
Departure bus schedule from the rail station in Katowice to the DeSilva Hotel
On the 15th of October 2009: 10:00, 14:00, 18:00, 21:00
On the 16th of October 2009: 07:00, 08:30, 10:00
Departure to Katowice on the 18th of October 2009 starting at 11:00 every hour .

The bus runs to and from the hotel every 30 minutes.
Fare 5,00 ~~ about 1,5 EURO
Hotel transportation on an individual basis from other locations and other times is available at 2,00/km
